To stop gentrification, fight for and with workers

Ed Lazere

Senior Fellow, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities

“Income inequality, health inequality, wealth inequality particularly between white residents and Black and Brown residents is not going anywhere; it’s getting worse. As the city becomes more and more gentrified, and more and more expensive, we need organizations like Jobs with Justice to speak up for workers – to fight for a fair wage, because $15 is not enough, to make sure tipped workers get a full wage, to make sure every worker has benefits on their job, to make sure people can work with dignity and know they’re going to get paid for the time they put in.
